About the Calendar and Rules Committee
The House Calendar and Rules Committee schedules bills for consideration on third and final reading and entertains debate on the merits of legislation recommended for passage by the eleven standing committees. The committee consists of the Chairman of each standing committee; the Speaker; the Speaker Pro Tempore; the Majority Leader or his designee; the Majority Caucus Chairman; the Minority Leader or his designee; the Minority Caucus Chairman; two members each of the majority and minority parties appointed by and to serve at the pleasure of the Speaker; and a Chairman, Vice-Chairman and Secretary as committee offices. This committee meets several times a week and acts on all legislation when requested by the sponsor.More »
